3 Ways New Artists Can Stay Socially Exposed

With social media outlets being a new source to discover up and coming talent, artists must shift their marketing and public relations strategies to gain more exposure for their music and image.

Utilizing social media outlets such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter is the most important resource artists can use to expose their music to a multitude of people. Below are tips on ensuring that you are using and maintaining social media to obtain the maximum amount of exposure for you and your music.

Stay Updated

Have you ever gone to your favorite artist’s web site or Facebook page and the same information that was posted six months ago is still there? When fans visit your sites they want to know what they can expect from you next. Be sure to update your pages weekly if not daily with information regarding your performances, new music, artist collaborations or whatever is new with you and your team.

Stay Connected

Think about the amount of people you meet weekly by attending shows, networking events and meeting friends of friends. When meeting them make sure you are trading business cards or contact information so you can immediately connect with them on Facebook,  LinkedIn or follow them on Twitter. This will automatically increase your following and expose your music to their friends that may be oblivious to your talent.

Stay Fresh

Find innovative and engaging tactics that will keeping people yearning for more of you and your music. Create contests, have giveaways or document your daily activities (if they are noteworthy). Remember that videos and pictures are your best friend, especially in a time when people have little time to read. A picture is worth a thousand words and a video is worth… doing just to engage your audience.
