Last week, a friend expressed concerns about immunizing her baby and this prompted my search to find websites with accurate and clear information for a concerned new mother. During the search I learned that August is National Immunization Awareness Month.
This makes a lot of sense if you think about it. August is the perfect time to focus on the value of immunization/vaccination, because it’s back to school time!
If you recall, as children and even as young adults, around this time we would go see a doctor for an annual health physical, often updating vaccines and getting blood work. What happens when you are an adult? Do we still need vaccines? Well, the answer is yes. Adults Need Immunizations, Too
According to a post on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “Whether a young adult, middle-aged adult, or senior citizen, we ALL need immunizations to keep us healthy. Transitioning to adulthood brings us into a new world, bringing a different level of responsibility that we carry for life, including the need to help protect our loved ones more than ever.”
