There have been many rumors that the Louis Vuitton Don, Kanye West, is starting his own women’s fashion line and it was recently confirmed that the rumors are true.
Kanye has done a lot of collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Fendi, making an exclusive shoe that was only sold in select Louis Vuitton stores, and also coming out with his own scarf collection. This is not the first time Mr. West decided to come out with his own clothing line. In 2008, Kanye did a collection called Pastelle that was never launched.
West will not be alone with this collection. He will have help from designer Louise Goldin and advice and interns from Saint Martins. This collection is highly anticipated by the fashion lovers and fashion elite. It was just a matter of time before the music mogul and fashion icon in the making decided to share his fashion creativity to the masses.
Professor Louis Wilson from Saint Martins says, “I can confirm that Kanye has been to visit me twice at Saint Martins and we have briefly discussed this collaboration. His visit was in part to employ interns for his label, and it’s important to mention that he’s supported our fashion school and made an immediate donation to Saint Martins, which perhaps further demonstrates his passion for the industry. I’ve known him for two years now and he’s incredibly knowledgeable about fashion, he’s a global phenomenon and a very interesting person. I think we can expect a well-considered collection, you wouldn’t expect less from a pair of professionals and I warn against dismissing it in haste. There are those who might assume Louise will be doing all the work and Kanye is just the face, I don’t believe this will be the case—he researches thoroughly and is hands-on and committed to his work.”
This new collection will be shown at the Spring/Summer 2012 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this September.
