Building a Budget that Won’t Buckle: Part 2

Budgeting

In part 1, we identified things we can do to build a stronger financial budget and how to learn from our previous mistakes. However, a budget is not a good budget if it doesn’t work for you. Here are some good websites to look at depending on the type of budget you want to maintain.

Conservative Budget

For those of us who consider saving most important, having a conservative budget entails covering the necessities and then investing in saving vehicles. Check out daveramsey.com if you are feeling conservative in 2011.

Single Parent Budget

The most complex budget involves budgeting for someone other than yourself. There are things like college funds, medical insurance and school clothing. Go to singleparentguide.com to get budget information and items that can help you build a buckle free budget for you and your child.

Hourly Worker Budget

One week you work 20 hours and the next 35 hours so your budget fluctuates on a weekly basis. Create your budget using percentages rather than dollar amounts on items such as groceries, utilities and other variable expenses. In the past, I have used moneystrands.com for a free download of their personal budget planning.

College Budget

Living on a college budget is all about spending free cash on entertainment and haircuts. Using studentfinancedomain.com will help you allocate your money and allow you to save and overspend less to save for a rainy days.

Budgeting is difficult but can be done with great discipline and smart decisions.
