Christian Siriano at New York Fashion Week

Christian Siriano’s Spring/Summer 2011 show was one of the most anticipated shows for fashion week. It was ideal that  his show was one of the first shows to kickoff one of the most important weeks in the fashion industry.

Christan Siriano first showcased his work while being a contestant and winner of season 4 on project runway. Before Project Runway, Siriano was no stranger of the fashion industry since he interned with two of the greatest, Vivienne Westwood and the late Alexander McQueen.

Since Siriano has won Project  Runway, He has had major collaborations with Payless, Victoria Secrets, and Starbucks.  Christan Siriano first debuted his collection at New York Fashion Week for Spring 2009 and has participated in New York Fashion Week Fall 2009, Spring 2010, Fall 2010 and now Spring 2011.

He describes this Spring/Summer 2011 collection as being “affordable for all customers.” While watching the show, I  was very impressed. This collection was part sports wear, resort and couture all in one. The color scheme was not the norm for the Spring and Summer color trend, yet it worked for the collection  with bronze, gold, red maroon and turquoise.

Siriano used a lot of his signature prints which he is famous for and he also used snake skin with a full snake skin 3/4 length skirt and blazer to match. He said his inspiration for the colors and the collection were different countries like Africa and China.  All his shoes were very Alexander McQueen inspired and will be sold at Payless in the Spring. He wanted the shoes to have “different closures and textural” and to have the “man made” look.

The final piece, in my opinion, was the best piece. The dress was a floor length form fitting dress with organza going from the shoulder, across the dress and to the bottom of the dress. Such a beautiful dress to to close out a beautiful collection. I can’t wait to shop this collection.

  1. I love the dress and his make-up collection for Victoria's Secret is to die for!

  2. I was at Christian Siriano and absolutely enjoyed the show!!! I dressed Joy Bryant and Sherri Shepherd for it!! I felt that with this collection Christian payed dutiful homage to McQueen without loosing his own voice. I particularly love the gown that my dear friend Sessilee wore down the catwalk!! It was her decison not to wear the final piece saying she preferred the “pouffy gown” (a lil inside info haaa)

  3. His collection this year reminded me of underwater sea coral and jellyfish. Beautiful collection, but I think I preferred his earlier collections.

  4. Legg Mason is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, and its common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchang the moment sweetie bracelets are extremely favorite; they can be a example of items of fun jewelry which might be expressed by brands renowned for quality

  5. The final piece, in my opinion, was the best piece. The dress was a floor length form fitting dress with organza going from the shoulder, across the dress and to the bottom of the dress.

  6. It was a successful show and they we’re all look glamorous. – Steven C Wyer
