Drake’s first major studio album “Thank Me Later” which was leaked on the internet yesterday, was instantly downloaded by Drake fans far and wide.
Its not often that a new artist has to live up to the success of their mixtape. With the official album release being June 15, industry insiders are fearful that the leak will affect the sales of one of the year’s most highly anticipated albums. However, Drake feels quite optimistic about the leak “I gave away free music for years so were good over here… Just allow it to be the soundtrack to your summer and enjoy!”
With the success Drake has had over the past year it’s difficult to understand that this is actually his first major release to the world. After Drake’s “So Far Gone” mixtape was released over a year ago, record executives wanted a piece of the 23 year old Canadian born actor/rapper. However, he eventually found a home with Lil Wayne’s Young Money/Cash Money records.
In “Thank Me Later,” Drake stayed true to the mixtape style that fans fell in love with while incorporating big name guest appearances.
The album which features production by Timbaland and Noah “40” Shebib, offers melodic beats in which Drake bounces back and forth between singing and rapping. Standout tracks such as “Light Up” featuring Jay-Z and the Swizz Beats produced track “Fancy” are bonafide radio hits.
The one thing that you can appreciate from Drake is his true loyalty to himself and his music. The other tracks on the album mirror a young man coming to grips with his newly found fame.
Overall, the album is a nice compliment to the “So Far Gone” mixtape where Drake gave his all and this is just the continuation of a young man trying to claim his rightful place in Hip Hop.
My favorites are the Jeezy featured track “Unforgettable”, in addition, Drake’s current chart climber “Find Your Love” a track that he delivers with such conviction and heart.
Please support and pick up the album on June 15. I promise I will do the same.

'So Far Gone' was hot! If 'Thank Me Later' is anything like that mixtape, I will definitely support!
