The 2×2 principle is for those entrepreneurs who are reaching for the next step in their entrepreneurial journey.
Now that we have molded ourselves as professionals and got to know the jockey without the horse, lets make another stop on this journey. Also out of the book “52 Principles of Black Entrepreneurial Success” by Robert L. Wallace, the 2×2 principle is introduced.
This particular principle is accompanied by three tenets that serve as stepping-stones.
1. As an entrepreneur, you must create our own future: You must know where you want to be before you get there. Once you have created your own vision, you have then provided a destination to arrive to and guaranteed possible outcomes for both yourself and your project.
2. Start at the endpoint: Identify exactly what you want your outcome to be for your product and or idea. Thoughts to consider, while you are sitting in the boardroom what do you want them to tell you? Once hired, what do you want them to offer you after you start date?
3. Break your journey down to increments. Ask yourself, “What must I do to achieve this next step?”After asking yourself this question, write your answers down and continually remind yourself.
The goal is to work backwards from your achievement to the guidelines that you set for yourself. Understand that in order to achieve certain business objectives, first you must create your future and enhance your vision.
Incorporate this simple equation 2×2 into your “how-to” guide of entrepreneurial success and evaluate what’s best for you.
