Good afternoon world! First and foremost, I want to thank Socialtik Mag for having me and everyone that visits SM religiously.
I’m still new at this, so bear with me lol. “Summer of Love” is track seven off of Rhyme & Noodles: NO ARTIFICIAL Flavoring Vol.1, which can be found on www.ericsosa.com. I was actually at my boy Rio’s crib, and he was running through industry instrumentals for me. He was playing the usual raw, hard, grimy Hip Hop beats, until he accidently came across the “Summer of Love” instrumental. Before a full four count could even play, he skipped it and apologized for having played it (lol).
I guess he felt I would make fun of him, being that it wasn’t your traditional Hip Hop instrumental. Long story short, I made him go back to it, listened to it straight through, (mind you he’s telling me “this shit is whack” the whole time) and then made him put it on my iPod. I told him, “Watch what I do with this”… and well, here we are.
“Summer of Love” is originally by The Sunloverz. The version of the record I recorded was remixed by Ian Carey. SOL gradually became a fan favorite, and after performing it a couple of times, I knew I had something special. I never thought I’d ever fist pump (lol) especially to one of my own records. Being able to perform SOL from Hall of Fame Record Store in Jamaica, Queens to Club Fluid in Philadelphia, and it being received the way it was, says a lot to me about Hip Hop Culture today.
Based on the amount of support I’ve received for the entire R&N Vol.1 project, especially for “Summer of Love”, shooting a video for it was inevitable. I couldn’t release Vol.2 without giving the fans a visual for the song they love so much. So on July 31st, 2010, we partnered up with POW (a video production team) and brought “Summer of Love” to Far Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY. Behind the scenes footage was shot by feleciacruz of FFF (Fighting For Futures).
I want to thank IMG (Imperial Marketing Group) and most importantly Danielle of Sosa Management Corp. because without her, this wouldn’t have been possible. Between illegal barbequing (lol) and a live band on the sand, it was definitely a day to remember. I also must thank everyone that came out and supported. We will be premiering the “Summer of Love” video on August 31st, 2010 from 7PM-11PM at 310 Lounge (310 Bowery) in NYC.
It is free admission, 18+ for ladies, 21+ for guys. Looking forward to seeing you there! Thank you again!
