In a recent interview with NPR, Lauryn hill spoke candidly on various subjects, even on her absence from the music scene.
Lauryn HiIl who recently performed at the Harmony Festival, has done very little performing in the United States in the last decade. However, according to her interview, things may change. “I think it’s just time. I’m starting to get excited again.”
During her interview, Lauryn touched on people’s attraction to her, explaining she believes it’s her passion, which captures individual’s attention. Some are intrigued by her sound or her music, but overall, it may be how fearless and boundless she is that attracts many fans.
Lauryn also addressed why she stopped making music saying, “The support system that I needed was not necessarily in place. There were things about myself, personal-growth things that I had to go through in order to feel like it was worth it.”
In addition, she mentioned that she was searching for a nurturing environment, one that in her opinion the music industry lacked at the time. “It’s important that people be given the time that they need to go through, to grow, so that the consciousness level of the general public is properly affected. Often times, I think people are forced to make decisions prematurely and then that sound radiates,” Lauryn also said.
Whether you are the adoring fan that fell in love with young Lauryn from “The Fugees” or believed “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” was the soundtrack of your life, Ms. Hill is ready to embrace you once again.
