When something extraordinary happens to you, you may believe it’s just pure luck.

Many of us view luck as when someone is doing something that took pure chance to acquire. The key word is chance. As entrepreneurs, you have to reach a point in your journey  where you take a chance at reaching your dream or goal, but since the steps you take and the work you put in are intentional, the success you achieve is not luck.

Many of us have different ideas of things that we think will ultimately lead us to our goal of success. Although many people may have taken some of the below paths, it’s not always a great predictor of how your journey toward success will pan out.

While reading Farrah Gray’s, “Get Real Get Rich,” she describes how you can conquer the 7 lies blocking you from success.

• The Born-Lucky Lie- you have to be born with connections
• The Work-Hard Lie- I have to work hard and be willing to make sacrifices to be rich
• The Celebrity Lie- I have to hit it big in the entertainment or sports world to be rich
• The Money Lie- I have to have money to make money and be rich
• The Debit Lie- I have to have zero debt to be rich
• The Google and Gates Lie- I have to be super-smart and invent something the world relies on to be rich
• The Wall Street Lie- I have to know a lot about the stock market or work on the Street to be rich

Gray’s first lie “Born-Lucky,” is something that a lot of people believe in. The fact that they don’t have what it takes to be successful, whether it is a rich family, trust fund or talent can deter your path. Yet, have you ever heard a wealthy person say how lucky they were?

News flash, they don’t! Successful people tell you how hard it was to get there and how much work and determination they put in to succeed. Stop telling yourself that other people are lucky, instead take a chance in your own luck.

You can’t play the game of success without having the necessary technique. Luck has nothing to do with the amount of success that you will have in your life. You have to take a chance and be at the right place at the right time. It is not luck that you were there, you made a choice to be there.

Although that road may have some tricky turns, minor detours and mixed signals, there is only one road to success throughout your entrepreneurial journey.

As an entrepreneur, you have to embed extreme confidence, persistence and determination that can provide you with the focus to avoid any type of distractions.

Get to know yourself and your abilities and be able to move beyond the “lottery mentality” which believes in luck or that something can be great without taking making a significant effort.

There is no such thing as luck or having a lucky charm, instead, access the potential you have within you and use it  to achieve and gain your success.
