This Ain’t About Sex… It’s All About Love
Steve Lovell is that fresh breath of air we all need. Starting a career at the age of seven, Lovell was groomed with greatness by attending school at the Whitney Houston Academy and the Cicely Tyson School of Performing Arts. He further expanded his knowledge and love of music at Clark Atlanta University and is currently attending the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts.
Now located in Boston, it is through the use of social mediums like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, Lovell has created an outlet to reach the masses. “These sites have helped me tremendously! This gives people a chance to hear my music and to then be my support. Facebook, Twitter and YouTube showed me that I really do have a lot of people who really support me and who want to see me go far.”
When I first got on YouTube, I didn’t expect to get any views and if I did, that it wouldn’t be that many,” says Lovell as he reminisces. “I was surprised by how people from all over were checking my videos out and then adding me on Faceboook and saying “Hey, I saw your video on YouTube.”
With music laced in love and positivity, Steve Lovell’s personality exudes those same qualities and he doesn’t let negativity side track him. “I actually like negative criticism. As long as the person is trying to be helpful, it makes me stronger and it makes me want to get better. I believe everyone has room to grow. So the negative criticism doesn’t bother me.”
Steve’s vast musical experiences include opening for Dr. Maya Angelou and Savion Glover at NJPAC to singing background for R&B singer Jennifer Holiday and sharing the stage with Gospel singers Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Vickie Winans, and Byron Cage at the McDonald’s Gospel Fest.
Steve has done various R&B, Neo Soul, Gospel and Jazz shows in New Jersey, New York, Atlanta, Washington, DC and Ohio. Even with an impressive track record, Lovell is still striving to achieve his ultimate goals of being a well rounded artist. “I want to reach people all over the world with my music. I have a story to tell through my music and I want the world to hear it.”
As the epitome of and soulful heartfelt music, Steve Lovell is most certainly ‘On the Rise’
Lovell’s Latest Appearance was with Chrisette Michele in January at the Primetime Comedy Club in New Jersey.
