In Washington, D.C., the unsung heroes of music are those with the soulful voices of R&B.
In a culture of alternative music, these artists are often drowned out by the heavy percussion beats of Go-Go or outspoken by the newly emerging Rap and Hip-Hop artists. It is within those soulful sounds and meaningful lyrics that you find Anthony ‘Tony T’ McIver.
Tony T was born and raised in Washington, D.C. While in school Tony T participated in various choirs as well as played the piano and tuba in the band. Motivated by R&B legends who sang about real love and heartache, Tony T brings the same genuine and expressive lyrics and melodies to today’s generation.
Since relocating to Tallahassee, Florida for college Tony T has joined the Taliband, a band formed by D.C. natives that attend Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. Their love for Go-Go music inspired them to bring a revamped style of music, which includes a heavy percussion beat mixed in with Tony T’s smooth high tenor voice.
Vocal Influences:
Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, John Legend Maxwell and The Stylistics.
On the Scene:
Tony T can currently be seen at various clubs in Washington, D.C., as well and performing with the Taliband in Tallahassee, FL.
