In less than a month, Oprah Winfrey, the goddess of talk shows and the empress of information to many generations, will pull the plug on her award winning show.

After 25 years of tears, laughter, surprises and inspiration, the Oprah Winfrey show will come to an all time end. When I first heard this news, I almost flat-lined! The woman who I aspire to be like and admire, was leaving me with a void in television shows with substance.

Nonetheless, all hope is not gone. Like the true mogul that she is, Oprah Winfrey has an even better plan brewing in her laboratory. She will halt gracing us with her presence everyday on day time television to instead provide us with a whole network dedicated to the same values she has bestowed upon us with her show.

The Oprah Winfrey Network, LLC (also known as the OWN Network) will debut on January 1, 2011. It’s only fitting that the launch date is 1/1/11 for it is the first network of its kind. Thanks to the Discovery Channel, this multi-platform is designed to entertain, inform and inspire people to live their best lives and in-turn encourages others to do the same – pay it forward.

What’s most impressive  about this independent company is that in addition to providing her talent, and personal commitment, Oprah will have full editorial control over the joint venture and will be responsible for OWN’s programming, branding and creative vision. A true Power Woman in action, Oprah serves as the Chairwoman of OWN and the venture is split 50 percent by Discovery and Harpo.

So instead of taking your lunch break at 3pm to get your daily intake of the O-mazing Oprah, you can now spend the whole day capturing her essence on her television channel, radio show, website, magazine and other media ventures. Be prepared to be inspired, motivated, entertained, educated, and to OWN it!
