Picture Perfect: Tisha Brenee

Tisha Brenee’, was introduced to high fashion, glamor and gilts at a young age while growing up in Flint, Michigan. Living with a house full of models, actors and designers, she began to develop an eye for style and discovered her love for art and photography.

Tisha’s parent’s moved the family to Los Angeles, California after her brother Kendre’ Berry landed a guest role on his first television show. From then on, Tisha was inspired and could tell that she too was destined for greatness.

Now 18 years old,Tisha Brenee’ is perusing her dreams as a young photographer, building her name in the Hollywood industry with her work and is also majoring in photography at Mount San Jacinto College. Aside from photography, Tisha also takes pleasure in modeling and acting as a hobby, but photography will always be her first love.

How would you describe your style of photography to someone who has never seen your work?

My style of photography is fashion forward. I absolutely adore shooting high fashion from the model, the clothes, hair and make-up. I like to play with my own imagination and find new ways to be creative and reflect that in my work.

What initially sparked your interest in photography and what keeps it going?

I became fascinated with photography at a young age. I loved high fashion clothes, magazines, models and the photograph itself. I developed an eye for high fashion photography and loved everything about it. What keeps me driven to keep it going is my creative eye and my approach to transform my ideas into beautiful images.

How do you ensure that your work and brand stand out amongst the masses of photographers that continue to emerge every day?

I know that this industry is growing immensely every day. The way to stay on top in this industry is to be very aggressive and being focused on the main goal, which is to surpass the competition. I must first understand myself and stay driven to becoming a successful African American entrepreneur.

From who or where do you draw inspiration from and how is it reflected in your work?

My inspirations reflect wildly in my work. My main inspirations are mostly in music and fashion. To me, fashion and music seem to be one dangerous combination that tends to spark my imagination with genius ideas that reflect in my work!

What is one long term goal you have relative to your photography and how do you plan to attain it?

One long term goal would definitely be to become one of the youngest successful African American fashion photographers the industry. To me, the only way of attaining this goal is by keeping God by my side; there’s no way I can fail.

What is one major business-related challenge you face being a photographer and how have you or will you combat this issue?

One major business-related challenge that I am faced with is mostly the long hours I spend on perfecting my craft. Sometimes I’m too hard on myself, but I know that in time, it will only pay off.

Name one person that you would love to have an opportunity to shoot and why. Describe this dream shoot.

I would absolutely love the opportunity to shoot Shaun Ross, one of the world’s first successful male albino models. He is such an inspiration and a role model for young people. Shooting him would be a dream.

If you could do a dual purpose shoot that showcased your talent and brought awareness to a prevalent social issue, what would your shoot be called and what issue would you highlight? Why?

If I were to showcase my talent to bring forth awareness to a certain issue, it would highlight on the topic of young women all around the world on the struggling to find their inner selves. It would also deal with the expectations of the media as far as being tall, skinny and pretty.

My shoot would be called “The Soul That Lives Within,” because it emphasizes on the fact that young women need to start seeing themselves for who they are on the inside and not what’s on the outside.

A picture is worth a 1,000 words. Describe the below in one.
