Project Blaq: New Outlet For Black Media Makers

filmmaker

Black film and media makers now have a forum that has been specifically created and designed to promote their professional works.

Project Blaq is an innovative online media showcase that will soon launch in effort to bring more emphasis and awareness to the online presence of Black media makers.

“There has been a void in representation of people of African descent in commercial media,” states Jasmin M. Goodman, founder and president of Project Blaq. ProjectBlaq.com will be an platform where visitors can “discover, connect and engage” with industry professionals ranging in all sectors of media, from independent filmmakers to documentary producers.

“The Black voice has historically been marginalized in the U.S. Project Blaq is an important vehicle to assist in unmuting the myriad of stories to be seen and heard in the digital community,” states Shari Randolph, director of development for Pan African Film Festival.

Project Blaq is currently seeking submissions for high-quality video content. “This is why our call for submissions is so important,” states Goodman.  “We will truly be setting the standard for Black media content online. However, we don’t plan to promote home videos. ProjectBlaq.com is a place for serious producers,” she continues.

In addition to video content, the site will also feature media makers’ bios and blogs, a built-in social network and an e-store for exclusive merchandise. “This is as Blaq and beautiful as it gets,” states Danielle Divine, Clear Channel disc jockey veteran.
