Branded with the slogan, “Protect Your Assets,” the designs created by Zunnania are meant to promote financial security and awareness rather than violence.
The small wallets embroidered with pictures of guns and grenades definitely stir up controversy, but Zunnania firmly stands by her designs and the message behind them. Inspired by the economy, protection and all of the “get rich” schemes involving weapons, the handmade “Money Bags” have a dual purpose of holding your cash and promoting financial security. Tagged with “Made in Brooklyn,” she pays homage to the place she was raised and acquired her entrepreneurial drive.
Two months after moving to LA. From Brooklyn to further her career, she was shocked that the company she relocated for, went out of business. Rather than allowing her job loss and the demise of the financial institutions negatively affect her, she decided to simultaneously create a new product and a new way of thinking.
When she initially lost her job, she felt a release and believed she could allocate more time to focus on her talent and the development of her brand. “We spend so much time building up these big corporations, but imagine if we spent that same amount of time on ourselves and our ideas,” Zunnania said.
While there are many employed young adults that are entrepreneurial at heart, many may never take the steps to actually forge their businesses. Some are complacent at their current jobs or they fear taking risks in an unpredictable economic state. Having an obvious trait of persistence, Zunnania knew that she would eventually begin designing regardless of her employment situation.
Zunnania made it very clear when she said, “Life is short and I don’t want to be bitter or resentful when I’m 50,” that she was going to pursue her dreams by any means necessary.
Recently releasing the “Knockout Clutch,” which is a creative combination of a purse and a brass knuckle shaped handle, Zunnania has furthered the thought of “Protecting your Cash and your Ass.” Coming up with the idea after her sister got into an altercation in a shopping store, she knew the “Knockout Clutch” would be the perfect way for women to stay safe and stylish.
While she does not produce her products for the trendsetter, she realizes that there’s a chance it might eventually become trendy. She believes, “Mass produced products are created for mass produced people. I create original products for individuals inspired by life and love, not trend-forecast or focus groups.”
“Sure, that shortens my target market, limits my ROI, business gurus would probably advise against it because it will lead me to the poor house, but passion inspired by money will leave you empty and often broke.”
