“Behind every good man is a great woman, but behind every American mogul stands many great women.”
Russell Simmons is most certainly a perfect example of a well-accomplished business man who continues to make significant moves everyday.
Not only has he built a number of successful companies, but he is an avid activist for numerous causes that many people fail to address in society.
One can assume that running his businesses and organizations is not an easy job, but like any great leader, Russell has a team that is fully involved in the progression of his efforts.
To give people an inside look into what it’s like to work for Russell, he teamed up with Oxygen to produce the new reality series, “Running Russell Simmons.” While aboard the “Running Russell” bus, I had the opportunity to listen to Russell tell a few bloggers some highlights from his new reality show.
Airing November 2, “Running Russell Simmons” will give viewers an inside look into the life of an entrepreneur, entertainment and fashion icon, philanthropist and yogi. He says the show will certainly include “A lot of prayer and yoga” as these practices are fundamental to his life.
The show will feature Simone and Christina, who are Russell’s closest confidantes, business liaisons and more. Additionally, Adair, Trish and Piper are apart of the group that keep the businesses operating at the highest level of achievement.

“Running Russell Simmons” will also highlight some of his advocacy initiatives. He is very active in efforts to decrease poverty and gang violence and he also supports animal and gay rights. Russell says, “It’s not about causing harm, but promoting good will.”
While Russell wasn’t dating during the taping of the show, he says a few of his ex’s will appear on the series. As they still work on joint ventures, Kimora Lee Simmons, Julie Henderson and Heidi Albertsen will all make appearances.
The dynamics of the reality shows are certainly changing and I’m glad I can add “Running Russell Simmons” to my list of fall shows that highlight entrepreneurship, positivity and progression.
“Running Russell Simmons” premieres Tuesday, November 2 at 10pm ET/PT on Oxygen.
