Now that it’s officially “cuffin” season, I am on the hunt for my human blanket.

Ok maybe not, but it would be nice to have a boo for the fall and winter months. I know it’s not just me, but isn’t it funny that when you are looking for something, you never find it? Well, you can meet a potential mate doing regular every day activities, but you have to keep an open mind.

So to my fellow single, but ready to mingle readers, let me play cupid for a moment. Here are 5 spots where you can meet a potential mate.

Speed dating

Speed dating used to be taboo a while back, but now I hear a lot of males and females who are willing to participate in this adventure. Depending on where you go, you can meet 5-15 individuals in the same night. You get the opportunity to learn the basics in just a few minutes and you can see if any chemistry is there. If you like them, you can leave your contact information, but if not, hopefully you at least have a good time.

Coffee shop

Who said coffee shops are all about coffee? Oftentimes, you will see people lounging around on their computers, or just enjoying the scene with a book in hand. You may go in there to catch up on work or to utilize the free wifi, but stay open to the possibilities. If someone catches your eye, take this opportunity to meet a new friend and engage in a conversation. You never know where the road may lead.

Networking event

This is the perfect setting to exchange information with someone, whether it is business related or personal. A networking event serves as a platform for like-minded individuals to meet. So take this moment to introduce yourself and see if you form any connections that may run deeper than a possible business initiative.

Blind date

Don’t be afraid to try new things. Many people reject the thought of a blind date because they are afraid of a new experience or fear their date won’t be outwardly attractive. These things are quite possible, but life is all about the risks and uncertainty. So why not go on a blind date and mark it down as an interesting story to tell the grandkids. You never know, you may be telling them alongside the person you went on the blind date with.

Through a mutual friend

Sometimes it’s not a bad idea to let your friends attempt to set you up. You never know if you will get lucky in the process and meet the one. Weddings, BBQ’s and birthday parties are all prime examples of  events where you can scan the room for potential acquaintances. If there are no connections made, you can always leave with the comfort of knowing you have tried.
