Swizz Beatz is featured in the new issue of New York Magazine. The well-known producer has many titles behind his name, including designer, artist, painter and the list goes on.
Now he can add College professor to that list. Swizz is NYU’s first producer in residence taking on the position back in November 2010. Swizz was offered the position after he gave a speech at the college last year and he accepted. Swizz teaches his students how to map out a plan to start off their music careers (copyrights, getting their music heard and the business of showbiz). The producer tells New York Magazine about his new position:
“The funny thing about me being a professor, I didn’t really get along with school,” he says. “It wasn’t based on education, it was based on survival. You go in there with a new pair of sneakers on, trying to focus on work, but this person over there is thinking about jumpin’ you.”
“I see myself in the NYU kids, to a point. But I was a little more realistic”.
I WISH I could sit in on a Swizz Beatz class (lucky kids).
Check out the March issue on newstands now (the issue also features a interview with Bernie Madoff).

I think he should learn to get along well with school.
