True or False: a good man is hard to find? There was a time when I believed they were non-existent, until I realized I was just overlooking them.

Females are generally attracted to the bad boys; the ones we know are no good for us. We pursue them for that temporary excitement, only to be left bewildered and bearing a broken heart. So when we do encounter a good man, we have no idea what to do with him.

We come with a load of baggage and expect him to fix and heal the pain of past relationships. We know it’s unfair, but when he can no longer carry the burden, we place him in the “You’re just like the rest” category. We have to stop blaming one man for another man’s mistake. Don’t rush into a relationship until you have resolved your personal issues.

So how do we know when we’ve come across a good man? Well here are a few signs that will let you know that he is a keeper.

Good communicator

Being able to communicate your feelings effectively with your significant other shows a sign of maturity. A man who can communicate well and express his emotions is apart of rare breed. So if you find one who does this without you constantly nagging him, you should hold on tight.

Encourages you to be better

A man who elevates you to reach your highest potential is someone who cares. If he wants to not only see you attain your goals, but is eager to help you reach them, then you know he has your best interest at heart. Keep him around because the two of you can grow together.

Takes care of his responsibilities

I need a responsible man, Lord knows I do. I have a habit of spending unnecessary money on items that I don’t necessarily need. A man who knows how to take care of business is so attractive. It shows that if you were to get married, he will be able to lead as the head of the household.

Makes you feel like the only woman in the world

Lately I received the advice that “If a man doesn’t treat you like you are everything from the beginning, then he isn’t for you.” Some may not believe this is true, but a man shows you the “real him” in the very beginning. Ladies do not be fooled, there are those guys that can make you, Keisha and Tamika feel as if you’re the only one at the same time. Pay attention to the signs and trust your intuition. But, if you are fortunate to find that man who makes you feel like a queen, enjoy him and be sure to treat him like a king.

Gets along with family and friends

If a man doesn’t get along with your real friends and family, there is a reason. Your relationship will have unnecessary drama if he can’t seem to get along  with your family. If my inner circle and my family doesn’t like you, you will not last. It says a lot about a man’s character if he doesn’t get along with your family let alone his own.

The next time a man of interest comes your way, be sure to pay close attention to a few of the things that will determine the longevity and chemistry in your prospective relationship. They say, “Love is blind,” but I’m keeping my eyes wide open!
