Willow Smith: The New Roc Girl

image-2

Have you been rocking out to Willow Smith’s “Whip Your Hair”? If so, keep whippin’ it because as Roc Nation’s new recording artist, I’m sure the hits will continue.

“I heard the record first before I knew it was recorded by a nine year old. I knew it was a smash. Jay Brown said she was 9 and I said Whoa! Then he said she’s Will & Jada’s daughter and I said Whoa! Whoa! And it went from there. I met Willow out in Japan; I knew right then she was a star,” says Jay Z on Twitter.

Roc Nation, home to artists such as J. Cole, Bridget Kelly and Hugo, is known to brand their artists for global success as well as give artists full-rights deals, which include records and ticket sales and endorsements.

Notorious for her odd ball red carpet outfits, Willow brings that same fun, edge and catchy style to her music. It has been rumored that her mother, Jada Pinkett-Smith, also front singer for the rock band, Wicked Wisdom, has been grooming her daughter into the artist she is today. Some are even starting to buzz that Willow may give another of Jay-Z’s discoveries, Rihanna, a run for her money.

As a young artist there is no telling what we can expect from Willow Smith and Roc Nation, but we know she is definitely On The Rise.
